Welcome to the Mid Devon GP Consortium Website

Mid Devon Doctors is a collaboration of GP Practices in Mid Devon working together to commission new and better healthcare services for the population of Mid Devon. Representatives from Practices attended the inaugural meeting at Sandy Park on 24th May 2007 which marked the start point.

The Mid Devon Consortium is made up of 19 Mid Devon GP Practices. We have a Management Group, a Clinical Forum and Protected Learning Afternoons.  The Consortium also funds Mid Devon GP involvement in various NHS Devon initiatives such as "Clinician to Clinicain" groups to help improve patient care.

What is GP Commissioning?

GP Commissioning is about engaging GP Practices in the commissioning of services as practices can voluntarily receive a budget from their PCT to purchase healthcare for their registered patients. This allows frontline clinicians to become more involved in commissioning decisions providing better clinical engagement, better services for patients and a better use of resources.
